Music
We use and follow a programme called Charanga. This programme has been inspiring music education for over 20 years. It has a world leading music and learning platform, which has been used in countries around the world. It contains a vast library of resources, songs and instrumental guidance, which has been supportive for teachers. It allows for teaching and learning to be fun and allows for non-specialist teachers to be able to deliver stimulating and progressive music lessons. The lessons cover singing, reading music, playing an instrument, (recorder and/or glockenspiel) and look at range, pace, and pitch in music. The themes are developed in more detail as the children progress through school. Over the years a range of styles are looked at and the children also have the opportunity to try their hand at composing their own music. In addition to this, we also use music in our normal assemblies and productions. There are songs that are used to help learning and some just for fun. Music can lift morale and we have in the past visited the local Methodist Old People’s luncheon club and entertained them. (Pre-Covid)
