PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) is an important and necessary part of all pupils’ education. There are three core themes for PSHE:

  • Physical Health and Mental Wellbeing
  • Relationships
  • Living in the Wider World

Through these themes, children will develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development (SMSC) and British Values are promoted through PSHE lessons. This supports our children to become healthy, responsible members of society. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about their rights and responsibilities and to be able to stand up for their rights and those of others.

PSHE lessons also incorporates our relationships and health education work. Children learn how to make and maintain healthy relationships with their friends and peers as well as how and why we need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This involves looking at how we can keep ourselves physically fit and the importance of eating a balanced meal. There is also a strong emphasis on mental health and how our physical and mental health are often linked. Children are taught that our emotions are important to understand and that if we struggle with controlling these, it is okay to ask for help.
